Over 170 people have been involved in this research, by:
- completing the survey on-line here on this web site
- completing the survery in a gay venue in London
- or by being interviewed by me.
Most were gay men who completed surveys or who agreed to me interviewing them about their experiences. I am very grateful to all of them for giving their time to make this research project work. I very much value and appreciate their strong insights, their humour - often in the face of terrible experiences of homophobic abuse that they were determined to recover from, and their willingness to make their experiences available to help other people who might be affected by homophobia. Some of the people I interviewed were staff from support organisations and some were police officers. I am grateful to them as well, for their giving their time so generously.
By taking part in this research, all those people made a very important contribution to the development and improvement of the work done by the police and voluntary organisations in responding to people affected by homophobia and I hope that when I have finished writing-up the research their voice will influence the work of those organisations.
Would you be interested in volunteering for one of the support organisations that helps people affected by homophobic crime? If so, there are details of how to get in touch with them on the links page.
